Song 70 : The Girl I Slapped

Think back at those days when I was little, I couldn’t help but to think of myself as a jerk. I realised that I really didn’t grow out of it yet. I still do some very hurtful things to people.

So back to the post’s title. Hard to believe? Yeah, I really did slap a girl. But that was about 10 years ago or so, but recalling that incident still hits me with pangs of guilt.

Ok, that thing happened in Smart Readers. It was triggered by something really silly and stupid. You’ll never believe what caused this.

Shu Pyng, my sis and I were arguing with a boy and a girl about Chinese deities. We were talking about which deity was ori and which one was pirated and which one lagi power (Well, pardon us! We were still kids and didn’t know better!)

As you all can expect, both sides weren’t really agreeing with each other. We were saying things like “No, my god is real one. Your one fake one!”

Haha. We were just like kids bickering which superhero was more powerful, just that our little debate involves Gods(OUCH!)

The argument started heating up, and all the “Shut up!” and “Stupid!” started coming in. Then, I felt something exploding in me and my hand struck her face, like it was a reflex action.

It was a terrifying moment. Her spectacles were dangling down her face as if it was broken and she stared at me with her confused eyes.
Everything happened so fast, it was too fast for everyone to absorb.

She kept looking at me for 2 seconds I think, and everyone maintained the silence. It’s like the whole world stopped turning because all their eyes were set on this little drama going on.

After moments of silence, she started sobbing and yelling furiously, blinking away her tears.

A series of events happened after that. Her parents came, my parents came, they had to apologise profusely, and I was cursed with this memory of slapping a little girl.

Or so I thought…

I thought after that slapping incident, it would mean bye-bye forever, and we will waltz away from each others’ lives.

How wrong I was. Our paths crossed a few times again, but I never realized it was her till a few months ago.

I was in Miss Leow’s Chemistry tuition, when memories of the past flooded me once more.

Miss Leow was talking about esterification, and blabla
Esters have fruity scent, some esters smell like oranges, apples, strawberries….
Yeah
Strawberries…..
I started dreaming again….
Strawberries in Cameron Highlands…..
Stawberry flavoured Cloud 9 candies….
Ichigo 100%, the stupid harem manga that revolved around strawberries….
The Smart Readers mascot that was a strange strawberry with hands and legs….
The girl I slapped in Smart Readers….

NO!

Embarrassed over the past and feeling myself blush, I tried to prevent myself from remembering that incident by looking around and thinking of something else.

Then my gaze landed on this girl before me…
I realized she just rebonded her hair and her curls were gone…
Then I looked away to think of something else,
Something hit me like thunder

My eyes slowly crept to her face once more and I gulped, feeling something tucking my intestines.

OH ANNI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was her, the girl I slapped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we were in the same tuition since form 3, and I never realized!!!!!
She had the same face as that girl I slapped! Same name! And the spectacles! (Though they were completely different, but just imagining it the specs dangling from her ears, hits the jackpot!)

Thank goodness, I don’t look like anything when I was little, or she might want to return the favour! HAHA

Ok I think at this point, many of you already know who got slapped, but its all right.
It was a wrong I did and I really wanted to amend this.
Well, I’m not asking her to slap me!
But I just want to say I’m sorry…
